SHIPBOARD TRAINING The objective of the shipboard training program is to develop individual skills. It à should à prepare à each person à to à fill à his à billet à aboard à ship, à to à accept à more responsibility, à and à to à advance à in à rating. Individual training is the basis for team training, which is the basis for training an entire ship. The shipboard training program must consider the shipââ¬â¢s organizational framework à à and à à operating schedules if it is to meet training needs. Personnel must be trained within their shipboard roles so that analysis of training can include the following: 1.Observation of team or group and individual performance 2. Comparison à à of à à performance à à with à à standard criteria 3. Recognition à of à methods à for à improvement 4. Attention à à to à à training à à potential à à and à à the elimination of training paper work In fast changing ship board environment the need of a properly competent seafarer has never been more prominent, there is a growing demand for onboard training services to refresh crew knowledge and verify the safe through training, drills and exercises. On our board training services are design to review familiarization of equipment and assess the emergency preparedness of the crew.Where necessary on board training will consider: 1. Proper use and maintenance of relevant equipment and training material 2. Allocation of duties and responsibilities 3. Procedures and methods of communication. 4. Actions to be taken On the job training or OJT is one method by which students is given a chance to apply the knowledge and skills that they have learned from the school. It also helps the students to acquire relevant knowledge and skills by performing in actual work setting. Colleges and universities require their students to undergo such training within a specific number of hours as part of the curriculum.For the students, an OJT or internship program provides opportunities to goà throughà theà actualà methodologiesà ofà aà specificà jobà usingà theà realà tools, equipments and documents. In effect, the workplace becomes a development venue for a student trainee to learn more about his chosen field and practice what he has learn from academy. On theà other hand, an effective OJT program also benefits the companies who accept trainees. OJT or intern provides additional manpower for lesser labor cost than a regular employee. OJTââ¬â¢s can bring fresh ideasà into the organization.Given the opportunity to speakà theirà mindsà freelyà andà withoutà fear,à theyà maybeà ableà toà contribute significantly in brainstorming sessions or research and eventually help improve the organizations productivity. While training the interns, employers are in fact also teaching their employees to process of guiding the trainees stretches theirà patience, dev elops teaching skills and makes them more sensitive to the needs and mind set of the younger generation. The course of supervision also teaches them how to share what they know and be receptive to questions.Hence, the internship also becomes an avenue in training for future managers of the company.
